We often visit Wirksworth. It is quite close. It is gritty, quirky and fascinating.
On our last jaunt we walked up Greenhill to the Star Disc and back down on a winding footpath when we heard a gentle tapping. A Song Thrush was busy bashing a snail against a flat stone. You read about it but this was a first for us.
Further down we came across the Secret Orchard Nursery and bought some unusual herbaceous and finished with lunch at Mercia. We hope that our Thrushes are as busy as their Wirksworth cousin.
