Walking and Cycling

Derbyshire and the Peak District are walking and cycling country with many routes to explore. Maps and walking information are available and we can dry your boots and waterproofs if needed.

These are some of our favourites:

Carsington Water (4 miles), Dovedale (8 miles) and Tissington, High Peak and Monsal trails.

Guided walks are available from the Peak District, Mountain House and Peak Walking Adventures.



  • Ashbourne is renowned for its independent shops, antique shops, and speciality food shops.
  • Buxton also offers a unique shopping experience with its four distinct shopping areas: Spring Gardens, Cavendish Shopping Arcade, Quadrant and George Street, and Higher Buxton
  • Derby Intu Centre is the nearest shopping centre and hosts a wide range of big names alongside independant retailers.
  • Should you wish to escape shopping in the town centre Peak Village provides an ideal alternative.



Derby (12 miles) provides a number of evening activities from ten pin bowling, cinema, Pool and Snooker and live events.

There are also many bars, pubs and clubs to suit your lifestyle.
